Tenet Delayed Indefinitely

Amid continued uncertainty Warner Bros has delayed the release Tenet for the time being

Christopher Nolan’s new sci-fi thriller was initially expected to be the first major movie to reopen cinemas, but that changed when it was delayed from July 17 to July 31 to better coincide with the gradual reopening of cinemas. Then it moved again as Warner Bros favoured a mid-week release in August to give audiences and cinemas more flexibility with scheduling. Now, the sad news broke over the weekend that amid growing coronavirus concerns in the US, Warner Bros has delayed the film indefinitely while they re-evaluate their release strategy. As part of their statement, Warner Bros did mention that they would consider releasing the film in overseas markets before the US. This would be brilliant news for UK cinemas as they gradually reopen their doors, but an August release remains unlikely, and fans could be waiting as long as summer 2021 to see Tenet on the big screen. Tenet is one of the biggest and most eagerly anticipated films of the year, so this certainly comes as disappointing news. Still, while fans are made to wait a little longer, they can do so safe in the knowledge that Warner Bros are committed to a theatrical release and planning a release strategy that ensures none of us miss this film that demands to be seen on the big screen. We’ll update with new information when we have it.
