Move aside millennials, Mean Girls gets a Gen Z makeover in the trailer for the adaptation of the stage musical.
The trailer for Tina Fey’s twist on a millennial classic introduces the new cast, with Angourie Rice starring as new girl Cady Heron, alongside Auli’i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey as her besties Janis and Damian, and Reneé Rapp, Bebe Wood, and Avantika as Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Shetty; the torturous trio of popular girls better known as “The Plastics.” Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms Norbury and welcomes new faces to the family and faculty including Jon Hamm as Coach Carr, Jenna Fisher as Ms Heron, and Busy Phillips as Mrs George. The reimagining of Mean Girls might move things on a generation, but high school will always be a battle for survival. From brutal burn books to embarrassing school performances and everything in between, fans will relish seeing the film’s famous sequences given new life and transformed into musical numbers that succeeded so well on the stage. Fetch may just even finally happen when Mean Girls comes to cinemas January 17.
