Jared Leto becomes Marvel’s Bat Man in the first look at Morbius
Following the surprising success of Venom, Sony are bringing another of Marvel’s most mysterious, compelling, and conflicted characters to the big screen. Meet Dr Michael Morbius, a dangerously ill doctor who turns to desperate measures to cure the rare blood disorder he’s afflicted with. Jared Leto takes the lead role as the man who makes a risky remedy to save his life and is transformed from a frail and feeble figure into a superhuman with increased strength, speed, and incredible vampiric abilities including echolocation and an insatiable thirst for blood. As with Venom, Morbius isn’t falling under the Disney/Marvel Studios umbrella and is only created in association with Marvel. But Sony certainly aren’t shutting the door on a potential future for their franchises as both their Spider-Man films and Venom are plugged, and Michael Keaton makes a surprise appearance cameo at the end of the trailer. However, it’s not entirely clear if he’s reprising his role as Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
