The trailer introduces Lily James as Zoe, a documentary filmmaker whose latest project is to chronicle her childhood friend and neighbour Kaz as he sets out to marry a stranger. Looking for love herself, but so far luckless in her scrolling, Zoe is dismissive of her friend’s decision to follow family tradition and the concept of assisted marriage, but in following Kaz from London to Lahore is taken on a journey of discovery of her own where she’ll not only come to understand and accept it, but also learn that there’s more than one way to find love. Stars Lily James and Shazad Latif are joined by a strong support cast that includes Emma Thompson as Zoe’s opinionated mother, Shabana Azmi and Jeff Mirza as Kaz’ proud parents, Sajal Aly as his bride to be, and Azim Choudhary as a mischievous professional matchmaker who brings them together. The stage is set for a charming, feel-good story about someone looking to swipe right on Mr Right and another who’s set to marry someone he’s never met that skewers the modern dating scene and promises a celebration of similarities and differences. Full of heart, an ensemble cast, and tongue in cheek humour, What’s Love Got To Do With It? has all the hallmarks of another instant classic British romcom from the producers of Bridget Jones’s Diary and Love Actually, in cinemas February 27.
