The trailer begins on the filming of an episode of the BBC’s That’s Life in 1988 where an unassuming man named Nicholas Winton is surprisingly reunited with some of the children he saved from the Nazis on the eve of the Second World War. Based on this remarkable true story, One Life is set across two timelines, following both Anthony Hopkins as the elderly Sir Nicholas who’s wrestling grief for the children he couldn’t save and Johnny Flynn as young Nicholas, fifty years earlier, as he heroically coordinates a team to rescue six hundred and sixty-nine children from a terrible fate. It promises to be a stirring film that tells a little-known hero’s story from the Second World War and bares striking similarities to Schindler’s List as the London banker escorts Jewish refugees to safety the refugee families to safety. Helena Bonham Carter and Jonathan Pryce also feature in this retelling of a hidden hero of war. One Life comes to cinemas January 1.
