Writer-director John Krasinski is best known for A Quiet Place, but this time is going loud with a lots-of-fun fantasy adventure comedy conjured from his own imagination that asks: what happens to imaginary friends when you grow up? The trailer opens with Ryan Reynolds’ Cal, in a more wry than wise-cracking role, opening the door to a world that has to be believed to be seen. The reason, a young girl, played by Cailey Fleming, is able to see all of the Imaginary Friends or “IFs” children have created. Together, they team up to save the IFs by finding them some new friends. From cute and cuddly creatures of childish dreams to more monstrous that are more the stuff of nightmares, the IFs come in all shapes and sizes and are voiced by a star-studded cast that’s almost unimaginable. Among them, there’s Steve Carell’s Blue, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Blossom, Keegan-Michael Key’s Slime, Sam Rockwell’s SDog, Matt Damon’s Sunflower, Sebastian Maniscalco’s Mouse, Awkwafina’s Bubbles, Jon Stewart’s Robot, Christopher Meloni’s Cosmo, Emily Blunt’s Uni, Maya Rudolph’s Ally, John Krasinski’s Marshmallow, Amy Schumer’s Gummy Bear, and many more that all celebrate the wonder of a child’s imagination. Get ready to let imaginations run wild and make some new friends when IF comes to cinemas May 17, with advance screenings May 11 and 12.
