Black Widow goes back to where it all began for one hell of a reunion
If you thought her sacrifice to retrieve the soul stone and save the entire world in Avengers: Endgame would be the last you’d see of Scarlett Johannson as Natasha Romanoff, you’d be wrong. Black Widow is back and ready to kick ass! Set in the relative peace between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow isn’t the origin story fans expected but instead follows the red-haired, KGB assassin turned Avenger as she returns to Russia to confront her past. Once there, she reunites with her dysfunctional superfamily including Fighting With My Family’s Florence Pugh as her sister Yelena Belova, Rachel Weisz as her sharp-tongued and formidable mother figure Melina Vostokoff, and Stranger Things’ David Harbour as as Alexei Shostakov, the patriarch who is just about still able to suit up as Red Guardian; the would-be Russian equivalent of Captain America. The trailer includes plenty of intense action, a dose of signature Marvel humour, and some poignant flashbacks from Natasha’s dark past; all the hallmarks of a quintessential Marvel movie.
