Disney celebrates all of the iconic and beloved films over their one-hundred years of animation with an original new story that encapsulates the spirit of all of them and brings their iconic wishing star to life. The first look at the film takes us to the kingdom of Rosas, a magical place where people’s wishes can be granted. Here, we meet spirited seventeen-year-old Asha, voiced by Ariana DeBose whose launched onto a fantastical adventure with her pet goat Valentino and Star, a celestial ball of boundless energy she’s unwittingly brought to life with her wish. The trailer also introduces the charismatic and powerful ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico, who’s voiced by Chris Pine and whose evil laugh immediately establishes him as the villain to this story. Disney imagine a place full of colourful characters and assembled a starry cast, that includes Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Evan Peters, Harvey Guillén, Ramy Youssef, Niko Vargas, Della Saba, Jon Rudnitsky, and Alan Tudyk, who provides yet another Disney voice as Asha’s beloved pet goat, Valentino. The trailer sees how Asha, Star, and Valentino – who can now talk thanks to Star – set out to stop King Magnifico and ensures everyone’s wish gets granted. With a strong female lead, a wicked villain, a strong sense of humour, a sprinkling of Disney magic, a wonderful painted animation, and snippets of new, original songs, Wish has got all the makings of another true Disney classic.
