Task Force X gives the inmates of Belle Reve prison the chance to take ten years off their life sentences, but they have three choices:

  • Refuse, and die in prison.
  • Accept, but face certain death on a suicide mission.
  • Accept, and follow orders or an explosive at the base of the skull will detonate.

It’s a concept that will be very familiar to moviegoers, as will surviving Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, and Captain Boomerang. Shady government operative Amanda Waller is back too, assembling an all-new line-up of antiheroes in this pseudo-sequel / reboot that promises to be a totally different beast. This time, the squad includes a literal alien, a murderous pacifist, an enormous half-man / half-shark hybrid, a man-sized weasel, and more!

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad merely dipped its toes into what the quirkier side of the DCEU could be. Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn, armed with another ensemble cast, steps in to bring the energy, attitude, and off-the-wall humour of his Marvel smash-hit to this alternative take on DC’s delinquents.

Expect insane ultra-violence and laugh-out-loud dialogue, but don’t get too attached, The Suicide Squad will surely meet a ridiculous end on this mission that’s to die for, literally.
