Joker Trailer

The first full trailer for DC’s standalone story introduces Joaquin Phoenix in the title role of the iconic Batman villain. But it’s nearly instantly obviously that Todd Phillips’ Joker won’t be a superhero story, but rather a gritty character study and part origin story, part cautionary tale as Arthur Fleck is broken and beaten down by society until he finally fights back. Showcasing a breathtaking visual style and truly transformative performance from Phoenix, the trailer is everything fans had hoped for. It’s too early to tell how he’ll stack up against the other actors to portray the notorious villain, but everything in the trailer sets it up for being perhaps the best portrayal we’ve seen.
