The trailer begins by taking us to the origins of the outbreak, when the world was full of noise before terrifying creatures appeared and hunted anything that made a sound. The loud and intense sequence follows Emily Blunt’s Evelyn Abbott as she navigates panicked streets to find her husband Lee (John Krasinksi) amid the chaos. Then we flash forward in time to the aftermath of the previous film, catching up with the remaining members of the Abbott family: Evelyn, Regan (Millicent Simmonds), and Marcus (Noah Jupe). A Quiet Place was bookended by two tragic losses for the family, first with the youngest child being taken by the creatures in a shocking sequence and then Lee’s sacrifice in the film’s dramatic climax which now leaves them without their protector and mentor. But that’s not all, the ultimate fight to fend off their hunters has damaged the home, and means they’ve also lost the silent sanctuary that kept them safe for so long. Now, with a newborn baby in tow, they must venture beyond the safety of their sand pathways and out into the apocalypse to find a new home. But what they soon find is that there are far darker dangers lurking beyond their perimeter as they soon encounter two other survivors played by Peaky Blinder’s Cillian Murphy and Black Panther’s Djimon Hounsou.
