The fantastic look at the all-new adaptation of The Color Purple introduces its stars in the famous roles of Celie and Nettie, two sisters who share an unbreakable bond through their horrific upbringing, years apart, and extraordinary reunion as adults. American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino reprises her Broadway role to star as Celie with Phylicia Mpasi as the younger Celie. Fellow singer Ciara and The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey step into the roles of adult and teenage Nettie. Rounding out the cast are Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, H.E.R., Corey Hawkins, and Taraji P Henson as flamboyant blues singer Shug Avery. If that cast isn’t enough to entice you, then the names behind the scenes certainly will as the bold new take on the beloved classic comes from producers Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders, and Quincy Jones. The short teaser only offers a short sample of the compelling performances, spectacular musical numbers, and everything else in store, but it’s more than enough to make this film that brings the Pulitzer prize-winning novel, Oscar-nominated film, and Tony Award-winning musical into one experience one of next year's most highly-anticipated. The powerful, musical celebration of sisterhood comes to cinemas January 26.
