Jessica Chastain pulls off deliciously wicked double duty in the trailer for Other Mommy, where the Academy Award-winner plays both a devoted mother and the malevolent doppelgänger stalking her family. The trailer teases sharp shocks and creeping unease, but just a taste of what’s coming from a horror ride packed with prestige. The film arrives with serious pedigree. Born from Incidents Around The House, the best-selling novel by Bird Box author Josh Malerman, with a screenplay by Nathan Elston, the writer behind the Emmy-winning phenomenon Succession. Modern horror architect James Wan produces, backed by the studio behind Backrooms and Obsession. And at the helm is breakout director Rob Savage, who’s already left an indelible mark on the genre with unforgettable frights Host and The Boogeyman. If the trailer is any indication, Other Mommy is primed to be his next stylish, nerve-jangling entry in the horror canon, in cinemas October 9.
