Oscars 2026 Nominations
This year’s Oscar nominations are in and Sinners is breaking records and baring teeth.
With a staggering sixteen nominations, Ryan Coogler’s brilliantly bold take on the vampire film becomes the most nominated film of all time, eclipsing All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land. It dominates across the board, with standout recognition for Michael B. Jordan’s dual performance as Smoke and Stack, supporting nods for Delroy Lindo and Wunmni Mosaku, and now an undeniable favourite for Best Director and Best Picture.
Hot on its heels, Paul Thomas Anderson’s political epic One Battle After Another is only three short of that with thirteen, including four acting nods for Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor.
The Best Actor lineup is rounded out by Timothée Chalamet, Ethan Hawke, and Wagner Moura, while the Best Actress contenders are Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.
Jacob Elordi, Stellan Skarsgård, Ella Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Amy Magian complete the supporting acting categories.
Sinners might have the most nominations to its name, but that doesn’t mean wins are certain. It faces stiff competition from Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value with nine nominations each, as well as Hamnet just behind on eight. Bugonia, F1, The Secret Agent, and Train Dreams round out the ten Best Picture nominees.
From vampires and monster stories to those of revolution, Shakespearian romance, sporting rebels, runaway aliens, and more, this year’s field is wildly varied and thrillingly unpredictable. Find out who takes home top honours at the 98th Academy Awards, broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles in the early hours of Monday 15 March.
