Everyone knows nobody hates Christmas more than Ebenezer Scrooge – well, maybe the Grinch. But in this bold reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic, you might just gain a deeper understanding of why this season is nothing more to him than humbug.

With Christmas Day approaching, the shrewd businessman plans to power through the working week as if it were any other. That is, until the ghost of his old business partner haunts him at night, warning him of three spirits who will lead him into his past, present, and future to show him the error of his ways.

It’s a timeless tale that needs little introduction, but this film tells it like never before – led by an actor who thrives on inhabiting outsiders. After the unforgettable Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, and The Mad Hatter, Johnny Depp transforms again into an eccentric, more maniacal than ever Ebenezer Scrooge to remind us why he’s the master of misfits.

It’s no one-man show, however. Depp’s backed by a formidable ensemble including Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, and Tramell Tillman, with Sir Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley and Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit.

Trust the ghosts and hold on tight, this is Scrooge like you’ve never seen him before.
