Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale Trailer
The doors to Downton open one last time for a final chapter that announces a new head of the household.
Change is in the air at Downton. Now in the 1930s, Hugh Bonneville’s Lord Robert Crawley has decided it’s time for his family to move on – and has named Michelle Dockery’s Lady Mary as his successor. But as a new era dawns, scandal brews and legacies tremble, and Mary must rise to the challenge of securing the estate’s uncertain future. Downton Abbey: A New Era director Simon Curtis reunites with creator Julian Fellowes for an emotional farewell, bringing the beloved story full circle. Returning favourites abound, with Michelle Dockery and Hugh Bonneville joined by Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Paul Giamatti, Elizabeth McGovern, Alessandro Nivola, Dominic West, and Penelope Wilton to name only a few. As the sun sets on Downton, the film promises to honour the entire legacy and pay a poignant tribute to the late Maggie Smith, whose portrayal as Violet Crawley is fondly remembered as one of her most cherished onscreen performances. It’s time to say goodbye, in cinemas September 12.
