Phase Zero
From Iron Man to Endgame, they defined and dominated a decade of cinematic storytelling. Now, the MCU enters a new phase with reunions, returns, and a seismic reset as Avengers… Re-assemble!
Words Andrew Dex
The Battle of New York. The Blip. “Avengers, Assemble.” Unforgettable moments that make Avengers movies the tent poles that hold the MCU together and cinematic events that simply can’t be missed.
Already seven years after closing out the Infinity Saga with Endgame, Marvel cinematic titans the Russo brothers reunite to gather even more mighty heroes in a new chapter that unleashes Doctor Doom!
In a universe-shaking twist, Robert Downey Jr returns. Not at as the lone genius who built armour in a cave and found the courage to face a titan. This time, he is the highly powerful, highly mysterious new face of the franchise. Doom’s motives are unknown. His threat is unparalleled. All we know is this: it will take the greatest heroes across different worlds and timelines to stop him.
Familiar Avengers favourites join forces with the new-age antiheroes who took their place. They stand shoulder-to-shoulder with iconic X-Men from the noughties and The Fantastic Four, who fly into the timeline backed by the brilliance of Wakanda. There’s more beyond that, and sure to be a few surprises waiting in the wings.
What awaits is another moments-packed, star-studded, universe-shattering rollercoaster – everything a Marvel fan could wish for.
Call To Arms
The Avengers
First showing their combined strength in the Battle of New York against Loki, some of the key Avengers characters are heading back to the big screen for Doomsday. Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Christ Hemsworth’s Thor, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man are ready for war.
X-Men
Better known by older generation of Marvel fans, we have the noughties era of X-Men lead by Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto. They return to iconic roles alongside James Marsden’s Cyclops, Kelsey Grammar’s Beast, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, and Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler plus the addition of Channing Tatum’s Gambit from Deadpool & Wolverine.
The Fantastic Four
Wherever Doctor Doom appears, the Fantastic Four are never far behind. After the recent introduction, the new team – Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing – chase him across the timelines.
Wakandans
Launching out of one of the most powerful nations on Earth, Letitia Wright’s Shuri and Winston Duke’s M’Baku lead Wakanda’s warriors into battle, joined by Tenoch Huerta Mejia’s Namor and the might of the underwater kingdom of Talokan.
New Avengers
Rounding out an absolutely sublime ensemble are the Thunderbolts, now The New Avengers. Sebastian Stan’s Bucky, Florence Pugh’s Yelena, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, and Lewis Pullman’s Bob return as misfit heroes finding their place in the MCU.
Plus, there’s Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, and of course the returning Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers find their place in this superhero jigsaw.
