Turning Red Teaser
A giant red panda goes on a rampage in the first look at Pixar’s one-of-a-kind coming-of-age tale.
The short teaser trailer introduces us to seemingly ordinary thirteen-year-old Mei Lee who’s just trying to get through the school day without disaster and get a grip on growing up. But when she receives a note from a friend, she’s horrified to discover that her protective and slightly-overbearing mother has followed her to school to keep an eye on her and is now causing a scene in front of everybody. But what makes every teen’s worst nightmare especially devastating for Mei Lee is that she is in fact rather extraordinary and feeling strong emotions causes her to transform into a giant red panda. It’s another fascinating and original premise from Pixar as Domee Shi – the director of the Oscar-winning short Bao that premiere prior to screenings of Incredibles 2 – puts an imaginative spin on classic coming-of-age tale for a film that, even from the briefest of trailers, promises to be something audiences will enjoy and truly connect with. Turning Red is set to land in cinemas next spring.
