From the beautifully handcrafted poster to the distinctive design showcased in the trailer, it’s immediately obvious that this is a film from the whimsical mind of Wes Anderson. Marking the director’s return to live-action following 2018’s animation Isle Of Dogs, the playful trailer introduces long-time collaborator Bill Murray as newspaper editor Arthur Howitzer Jr and his team of American ex-pat journalists writing stories for their paper in a fictional French city. As fans of Anderson’s work have come to expect, the director has amassed an almighty ensemble of stars to bring his colourful characters to life. Bill Murray is joined by frequent Anderson collaborators Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Frances McDormand plus new faces to the Anderson cinematic universe: Benicio del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, and Stephen Park. Inspired by the New Yorker, The French Dispatch is a love letter to this style of journalism and has all the look and feel of a classic Wes Anderson Picture.
