While we’re still to see what Disney are going to do with Deadpool, it doesn’t look like they’ll be stopping Ryan Reynolds from running his mouth as he’s at his tongue-in-cheek, fun-poking best in the debut trailer for absurd action-comedy Free Guy. After a self-deprecating dig at Disney’s own box-office dominance and trend of remaking their own movies, the trailer sends you free-falling into the chaotic world of Free City where Ryan Reynolds’ Guy wakes up to an ordinary day. But as this boring bank teller’s day plays out like any other, he decides to break the boredom and discovers he is, in fact, a background character in an ultra-violent open-world video game. In a world full of bad guys, Guy must step up to save the day. But the NPC turned hapless hero will need some help, which fortunately comes in the form of Molotov Girl, a gun-toting heroine played by Killing Eve’s Jodie Cromer. With special sunglasses that let them see their world for what it really is, they set out together to bring even more mayhem to the city. The trailer also reveals a glimpse of the supporting cast including Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery.
