The trailer introduces Whitney Houston at the beginning of her career as she faces unjust criticism during a radio interview, but this strong soul isn't going to sit by and take it, she stays strong and remains defiant to sing the songs she wants to sing. And it's her strength and meteoric rise to become the voice of a generation that’s now the focus of a new biopic from the writer of Bohemian Rhapsody that chronicles Houston’s rise from Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time. The film promises to showcase her struggles and the familial fallouts she experiences, too. BAFTA-winning English actress Naomi Ackie shines in the starring role and seems to be perfectly cast in this inspirational, poignant, and emotional portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice. In addition to Ackie’s performance, the trailer treats us to a soundtrack that includes some of the icon’s most beloved hits as well as recreations of her most show-stopping performances, including her infamous rendition of America’s national anthem at the Super Bowl in 1991.
