The Father First Look

Co-written and directed by Florian Zeller, The Father sees award season darlings Olivia Colman and Anthony Hopkins star together in the story of an elderly person living with dementia, and it already looks set to bring them more acclaim. The powerful trailer introduces Hopkins as a fiery and independent old man who has dementia, while Colman stars as his daughter who moves into his home to care for him. But as his condition worsens, and he sadly begins to lose his grip on reality, she realises he is beyond her help in a film that highlights the devastating impact of the illness. As well as showcasing the two powerhouse performances from its leads, the trailer also reveals how Zeller will utilise his strong support cast with the likes of Rufus Sewell, Imogen Poots, Mark Gatiss, and Olivia Williams playing the same characters as the old man begins to no longer recognise the people around him, even his own daughter.
