The debut trailer sees sparks fly as Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon respectively, ignite their war of currents as they race to create the electrical system that will power a new age. The trailer reveals where Edison favours direct current, Westinghouse and several other powerful businessmen preferred alternating current and this fundamental disagreement was the catalyst for an intense professional rivalry that would light up 1800s America. Directed by Me And Earl And The Dying Girl’s Alfonso Gomez‐Rejon, The Current War also stars Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Mcfadyen, Tuppence Middleton, and Nicholas Hoult as maverick inventor Nikola Tesla.
