Catching up with the cavemen we first met in 2013, The Croods 2: A New Age finds our heroes getting past their previous panic over anything that’s unfamiliar only to get a little too adventurous for their own good. But don’t worry if that all sounds a little too ominous; you can expect more stone-age silliness and prehistoric prat falls in their thrilling new adventure that sees adapting to new-age technology and making forward-thinking fashion choices including sloth sashes and even sliders.

Back behind the microphone are the familiar voices of Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, and Nicolas Cage, whose enjoyment in portraying these characters is as clear as ever. The new family and its eccentric members add to the exciting ensemble as Peter Dinklage and Leslie Man join in the fun as the part-hipster/part-hippie power couple Phil and Hope Betterman.

With plenty of laughs to be had and a strong underlying message of keeping the pack together in order to survive, this fun-filled family animation promises prehistoric entertainment for any age.

Kelly Marie Tran

After shooting to stardom in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Raya And The Last Dragon, Tran continues to carve a name for herself, starring here as the Betterman’s adventurous daughter Dawn.
