Dracula’s loyal servant is looking to escape the most toxic relationship of all time in the trailer for the modern monster tale.
The trailer introduces Nicholas Hoult as Renfield, a tortured soul who’s spent a lifetime in servitude to a narcissistic boss and has now grown tired of doing his master’s every bidding. But leaving isn’t quite that simple, especially considering the person he answers to is The Prince of Darkness himself. That’s right, Nicolas Cage sinks his teeth into the role of Dracula in this comedic spin on the classic monster story from director Chris McKay and Rick & Morty writer Ryan Ridley. The mad concept comes from the brain behind The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, who serves as producer on the film that follows Renfield as he looks for a normal life outside of Dracula’s shadow, starts a relationship with a police officer played by Awkwafina, and tries desperately to keep his vampiric superpowers secret in the ordinary world. Sink your teeth into a totally different monster tale when Renfield comes to cinemas on April 14.
