Reunited with Out Of The Furnace director Scott Cooper, Christian Bale stars as legendary Army captain Joseph J. Blocker who reluctantly agrees to escort dying Cheyenne war chief, Yellow Hawk, and his family back to tribal lands. The intense and visually striking trailer teases a harrowing journey from a military outpost in New Mexico to grasslands of Montana where they encounter a young widow, played by Rosamund Pike, whose family have been murdered on the plains. There’s still quite a wait until awards season gets going, but early buzz suggests Christian Bale has thrown his hat into the Oscar race with a career-best performance that sees him battling the punishing landscape, hostile Comanche and vicious outliers, and his inner demons.
