The trailer introduces Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke who stars as Kate, a disgruntled Christmas shop employee who suffers from a life-threatening illness and a severe lack of Christmas cheer. Following the classic “girl meets boy” model, she has a series of encounters with charming soup kitchen volunteer Tom, played by Crazy Rich Asian’s Henry Golding, who sets about helping her refind her Christmas spirit. Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig and writer and co-star Emma Thompson transform Wham!’s iconic 1986 winter hit into a seasonal romcom set to a George Michael beat and featuring several of the late singer’s classic songs as well as an unreleased, never-before-heard single. In addition to introducing our contrasting leads, the trailer also provides us with a look at the supporting cast that includes Emma Thompson as Kate’s overbearing, Russian-accented mother, Michelle Yeoh as Kate’s critical boss, and Lydia Leonard as Kate’s kind-hearted sister.
