Set in 1920s Oklahoma, Killers Of The Flower Moon depicts one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in American history, chronicling the cruel murders that occurred alongside white settlers’ underhanded acquisition of Osage Native American land that was rich with valuable oil.

Fresh from his three-hour long gangster epic The Irishman, legendary director Martin Scorsese returns with an expansive period-set crime mystery that reunites him with two of his most famous acting muses.

Gangs Of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Wolf Of Wall Street, and now Killers Of The Flower Moon. In his sixth Scorsese picture, DiCaprio stars as Ernest Burkhart, a seemingly compassionate cattleman who falls in love with the Osage family’s Mollie Kyle, played by Lily Gladstone. As blood and oil are spilled, Burkhart must decide if it’s money or love that matters to him most, while the FBI attempts to solve the string of grizzly killings happening around him.

As expected for a director of Scorsese’s calibre, the film touts an A-list supporting cast that includes the likes of Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and of course Robert De Niro. For their tenth film together, De Niro plays William Hale, a prominent figure in the Osage Nation who takes Burkhart under his wing.

Western crime epics don’t get more enrapturing than this.

Partners In Crime

Taxi Driver

Taxi Driver marked Scorsese’s second time working with Robert De Niro and cemented their partnership as one of cinema’s best. We’d strongly advise against any cinema trips with Travis Bickle.

Raging Bull

A boxing story unlike any other, De Niro and Scorsese’s brutal biographical sports drama about a struggling boxer sees the actor in a truly transformative role, gaining 27kg to play Jake LaMotta during his final years and rendering the film dangerously true to life.

Goodfellas

Gangster epics don’t come much better than Scorsese’s 1990 classic that documents the rise and fall of the late Ray Liotta’s Henry Hill, including his criminal exploits working for De Niro’s Jimmy Conway.
