In The Heights Trailer
A vibrant and powerful trailer for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new musical welcomes you to Washington Heights.
Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is famed for his stage success, but may be better known to cinemagoers for his co-starring role in Mary Poppins Returns. After Hamilton’s phenomenal success, both on stage and screen, Miranda’s career continues to skyrocket and now he’s collaborating with Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M Chu to bring his first groundbreaking Broadway musical to the big screen. Set in the heart of a multi-cultural community in New York City, In The Heights tells the story of a Latino bodega owner who dreams of a better life and from the moment we see Anthony Ramos’ Usnavi de la Vega spin a sewer cap like a turntable, we know it’s going to be something special. It’s a small moment in a thumping trailer that’s full of energy and teeming with big song and dance numbers, but significant in teasing a film that promises to capture the spirit of musicals from classic Hollywood and give it a contemporary twist. Supporting cast members Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Jimmy Smits, Straight Outta Compton's Corey Hawkins, Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz, and Lin-Manuel Miranda himself are all seen as the residents of Washington Heights make some noise for a film that’s not only vital in giving Latino culture and communities a spotlight, but also bringing cinemas and audiences a musical event they’re both desperately in need of. In The Heights is currently set to arrive only in cinemas this summer.
