One of famed author Judy Blume’s best-known books Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret has guided generations through those complicated and volatile pre-teenage years, now it’s coming to the big screen. The task of adapting the beloved and timeless book that has connected generations for over fifty years falls to The Edge Of Seventeen writer-director Kelly Fremon Craig and the trailer showcases a killer seventies style and an ensemble cast that brings Blume’s world and characters comes to life. Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Benny Safdie, and budding child star Abby Ryder Forston star in a universal coming of age story that follows Margaret, an eleven-year-old in the throes of puberty, and her family as they move from New York to the quiet suburbs of New Jersey and adjust to life outside the big city. Its period setting certainly locks it in time, but much like the book, promises a story audiences can connect with today, one packed with insightful humour and answers to some of life’s biggest questions.
