Until 2012, the world knew very little about King Richard III. After being lost for over five-hundred years, one intrepid amateur historian discovered his remains beneath a car park in Leicester. This is her story. The trailer introduces the two-time Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated star of Made In Dagenham, Paddington, and The Shape Of Water as Philippa Langley, an historian striving to break the glass ceiling within her profession. Determined to prove herself, she sets out to search for the final resting place of King Richard III, and the rest is history. The trailer shows that despite doubt and derision from her family and fellow historians, as well as concerning conversations with an apparition of the deceased royal she conjures from her imagination, Langley’s search is a life-affirming story that makes history and has the makings of a classic piece of feel-good cinema. With Stephen Frears directing from a Steve Coogan and Jeff Pope screenplay, The Lost King reunites the creative team behind the Oscar-nominated feel-good hit Philomena and promises more of the wit, charm, and fighting underdog spirit. The search for The Lost King has begun, find him in cinemas October 7.
