The trailer introduces Emma Mackey as the rebellious misfit who would become one of the world’s most famous writers. But this isn’t a traditional biopic. The debut film from writer-director Frances O’Connor isn’t a totally true story and more based on speculation than historical account to tell the imagined story of what inspired the middle Brontë sister to write Wuthering Heights. The moody trailer shows that it was in fact a forbidden romance with a man named Weightman and the effect it had on her family and life that was the inspiration for her renowned classic. The Haunting Of Hill House and The Invisible Man’s Oliver Jackson-Cohen takes the role as Weightman, while Alexandra Dowling and Amelia Gething star as Emily’s sisters Charlotte and Anne. There’s also a look at Fionn Whitehead as Emily’s free-spirited brother Branwell, as well as glimpses of Gemma Jones and Line Of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar. Meet an legendary misfit and delve into the mind behind Wuthering Heights in Emily, in cinemas October 14.
