Lars von Trier's provocative, sinister, yet occasionally humorous tale follows a highly intelligent man called Jack over the span of twelve years and introduces the murders that define his development as a serial killer. Experiencing the story from Jack's point of view, as he postulates each murder is an artwork in itself, he begins to take greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork.
