On Chesil Beach

A different time. A different love.

It's summer 1962, and England is still a year away from huge social changes: Beatlemania, the sexual revolution, and the Swinging Sixties. Florence and Edward, a newlywed young couple, are on their honeymoon near Chesil Beach in Dorset.

During dinner at their remote, sedate hotel, their conversation becomes increasingly tense and awkward as the prospect of consummating their marriage approaches. Finally, an argument breaks out between them, Florence storms out, and Edward pursues her.

As their row continues on Chesil Beach, a series of flashbacks reveal the differences between them - their attitudes, temperaments, and their drastically different backgrounds.

Out on the beach on their fateful wedding day, one of them makes a major decision that will utterly change their lives forever in a powerful, insightful drama about two people defined by their upbringing and bound by social mores of a bygone era.
